Senior Awards Night and Graduation

In November, students in grades 9-12 interested in the healthcare field were invited to Ithaca College to participate in the biannual Health Expo. Students toured the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance. They rotated to different mini-workshop where professors explained the different degree programs, giving students insight into possible career options. Students were able to experience hands-on activities in the exhibitors center before they departed for home.

Craft Show Reminder!

Congratulations to Brooklan Strange for being selected to be part of the 2023 Jr. High Area All-State Mixed Chorus! She was selected out of singers from Cayuga, Onondaga, Cortland, Tompkins, Tioga, and Broome Counties who performed a NYSSMA solo in front of a judge. After 12+ hours of being under the direction of a nationally-recognized director, the Jr. High musicians will perform a concert at Homer High School on November 3rd at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $8.00 and available at the door for cash only. Congratulations, Brooklan!

As some of you may already be aware, Central New York is experiencing an unexpected shortage of the half pint milk paper cartons from our suppliers. It is anticipated this shortage will continue into January of 2024. Here at Groton, we understand the importance of our students having access to the nutritional value of a serving of milk at breakfast and at lunch. As such our plan is to continue to serve milk, using serving products we have available.
For both the elementary and Jr-Sr High, students will receive serving size milk from cooler dispensers in the cafeteria using 8 ounce cups. Students will have a choice of 1% white milk at breakfast and 1% white milk or low-fat chocolate milk at lunch.

Thank you to the Groton Junior High School Student Council for holding a Fall Dance last Friday, October 27th.

The students of ANSC100 have been hard at work learning; AKC breeds, standards, dog anatomy, nutrition requirements for small animals, veterinary care, how to choose a veterinarian, the difference between buying from a responsible breeder and adopting, and of course handling & care. Today they got to “show” their dog that they’ve spent the lastweek researching and creating. Special thanks to our judges panel and of course a huge round of applause to the 15 dog handlers and their well behaved pooches!

Last night, at the Overall IAC Championships, in a race that included all of the best runners in the league, Ross Bush placed 7th overall and earned IAC Allstar Status. Also impressive was that Ross was the 3rd non Senior to cross the finish line. Drew Bush ran to a season best performance placing 55th overall in this championship race. Jordan Roberson stepped up like a veteran Senior running almost a minute faster than he did last year on this course. Tristin Weeks had another solid performance as he continues to place in the top 3 on this Varsity team. William Brehm is the most veteran of this group running in his 3rd IAC Championship. This team will travel to the Sectional Championship next Thursday.
