Technology Department

The Groton Central School District IT Department oversees the district's technology and network infrastructure and serves as the liaison between the District and both Central New York Regional Information Center (CNYRIC) and the IT Department at TST-BOCES. In addition, the IT department is responsible for the management of over 1000 devices across the district, and oversees the District's Ed Law 2-D compliance. Finally, the IT department acts as a resource for faculty and staff on a host of technology-related topics.

Groton Tech Department - Student Interns

The District is proud to provide opportunities for students to engage in authentic learning through a district-run student internship program. Students interested in pursuing a career in technology can apply to be an intern once they are in the tenth grade and can work an average of five hours per week during the school year, with longer hours available during breaks and the summer. As an intern, students are exposed to a host of projects within the IT department, including, but not limited to, device repair, cybersecurity, network wiring and infrastructure, security camera installation, day-to-day troubleshooting for faculty and staff, and staff and student presentations on a variety of IT topics.
